The Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company is a 100% volunteer fire service that protects the western section of Salisbury Township, located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
Our district includes suburban neighborhoods bordering the City of Allentown, as well as more rural areas, including farmlands. Major landmarks protected include the Lehigh Valley Health Network campus on Cedar Crest Blvd., Interstate 78 from the Summit Lawn interchange to the PA Route 309 split, the Lehigh St. AutoMile, numerous commercial establishments, and some light industry. The Norfolk Southern rail line traverses our district. We often run mutual-aid in surrounding municipalities including the Borough of Emmaus, Lower Macungie Township, South Whitehall Township, and the City of Allentown.
We operate with forty dedicated volunteers and four apparatus, responding to nearly 500 incidents a year, on average. These incidents include but are not limited to vehicle, structure, and brush fires, vehicle collisions, gas leaks, smoke and odor investigations, electrical hazards, alarm activations, elevator rescues, water rescues, animal rescues, downed wires, and medical emergency assist calls.
Our company trains every Monday evening between 6:30 PM and 10:00 PM. Various capacities of membership are available depending on the desired level of commitment of the volunteer. Visit the "Join Us" page for more information on becoming a member.
