River Rescue

May 25, 2013 at 1515Hrs Company 19 was dispatched for a river rescue at the Brunswick Boat Ramp.  A197(2V), A198(2V) BS19(4) RS19(2V) responded and were advised by ECC of the possibility of 7 patients.  Units arrived at the Brunswick Boat Ramp and boat 11 & 11-1 from Potomac Valley Fire Company launched and headed up river along with AirBoat28 from Point of Rocks.  While units waited at the Brunswick Boat Ramp a private fishing boat had rescued one of the victims from the water and dropped them off at the boat ramp for evaluation.  Boat 11 , 11-1 & AirBoat28 lo...

Units alerted at 18:54hrs for a motor vehicle crash with possible entrapment, 1 veh into a ditch on McCormick Rd near Beech Dr. 245 Assistant along with the rescue squad from 245 responded. 245 Assistant arriving with command, the crash is on McCormick Rd at the lower entrance to the Burkett Sports Complex, 1 vehicle into a ditch, 1 female still inside, negative entrapment, Rescue Squad to continue. Odor of Smoke - Fiona Way
Brunswick Volunteer Ambulance and Rescue Company Inc. - Brunswick, MD
On May 24, 2013 @ 1816hrs Box 5-2 was struck for an odor of smoke at 185 Fiona Way.  A197 (2V) responded and was first to arrive on scene with the structure evacuated and nothing evident.  Units searched the primary and neighboring townhouses and were unable to locate the source for the odor.  Units returned to service shortly after.

Vehicle Accident with Unknown Injuries - 4800 Block of SR 51 SB - Rostraver Township
Rostraver Central Fire Company - Belle Vernon, PA
0418hrs: Station 105 was alerted for a reported vehicle accident with unknown injuries, caller reporting 1 vehicle over the hill, into the woods and on it's side. With 105 personnel enroute, Engine 105 arrived on scene and found 1 pick up truck through a guard rail, over a 20 foot hillside and on it's side. 105 crews went over the hill to check for patients and hazards. I84 truck fire
Hamlin Fire and Rescue Inc. - Hamlin, PA
At 0341 station 67 engine and tanker were dispatched to assist station 23 on I84 for a tractor trailer on fire. Engine 67-5 responded with a crew of 6 and the tanker followed with a crew of 2 at 0346. Engine 5 arrived on scene and was given the assignment of assisting with extinguishing the fire. 67 crew gained access to the cab by removing the door.

Dryer Fire on Millersport Highway
Eggertsville Hose Company - Amherst, NY
Eggertsville firefighters responded this afternoon to the Buffalo-Niagara Marriott for an automatic fire alarm. Units were quickly advised of a reported fire in the basement. Crews arrived on scene and stretched a line down to the basement. A small fire was found in some clothes piles that had been pulled from an industrial dryer. The fire was quickly extinguished and the basement was ventilated. Units returned to service soon after. Driver Confined At Centre & Windsor

11:30 hours / Centre Ave & Windsor Street / A platoon Medic 1 o/s with a two car accident with injuries requesting a 2nd medic unit. Chief Stoudt(C4) also advising the driver of one of the vehicles was confined. Companies in service with hydraulic rescue tools with the driver being removed in under 10 minutes. SMOKE INVESTIGATION IN 600 BLOCK OF SCHWABE STREET
FREELAND FIRE DEPARTMENT - FREELAND, PA
Early this morning FFD was dispatched to a vacant residence in the 600 block of Schwabe Street. Neighbors reported hearing smoke alarms sounding from the vacant residence but no smoke present. FFD responded with Engine 1 and the Truck. PD was notified and entrance was made to the structure faulty detectors were discovered and Freeland Code Enforcement was notified of possible violations.

Truck and Engine on the Box to Foster
FREELAND FIRE DEPARTMENT - FREELAND, PA
Early last evening FFD responded on the box alarm with Foster Twp on a residential structure fire on Foster Ave. The truck arrived right behind Foster engine and the crew assisted in the investigation. Small Fire on Princeton Avenue
Eggertsville Hose Company - Amherst, NY
Eggertsville firefighters responded this afternoon for smoke coming from the apartment and a possible fire on Princeton Avenue. First arriving units observed light smoking from the upper apartment. The crew from Eggertsville Engine 1 forced the apartment door and located some smoldering food on the stove. The food was removed and the apartment was ventilated. Vehicle Accident on Interstate 81
Abingdon Fire Department - Abingdon, VA
At 11:33, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a single vehicle accident at the 13.8 mile marker in the southbound lane of Interstate 81. We were dispatched that the vehicle was on its top and possible entrapment. Upon arrival, Washington County Life Saving Crew had occupant out of the car and were rendering treatment. Traffic was reduced to one lane until the wrecker was able to remove the vehicle. Engine 201, Utility 207 and Command 210 responded along with units of the Washington County Life Saving Crew and VA State Police.

1930Hrs on May 23, 2013 Company 19 was alerted for a vehicle accident in the area of Rt340EB @ Keep Tryst Rd.  A197 (3V) responded and arrived first on the scene to a vehicle on its top.  The driver self extricated and was loaded into A197 for transport to FMH.  Units cleared shortly after.

Rescue does Flag Detail
Hershey Volunteer Fire Department - Hershey, PA
This afternoon, the Rescue loaded up about 100 flags provided yearly by the American Legion and set out to install the flags on the Hershey Kiss Flagpoles on West Chocolate Avenue. This was the first year the Fire Department was asked to do this, and it was very unique! We had some challenges with poles being further from the curb than others,not to mention the always-busy Hershey summer traffic.

Rescue Company Extricates 1 on a 380 Cut Job
Sardis Volunteer Fire Company Station 78 - Murrysville, PA
Today at 0855 hours the alarm was struck for Route 380 and Wilma Dr. for the reported crash with entrapment, Chief 106 arrived confirming the pin, one patient unresponsive and to have LF 6 on standby. Rescue 78 upon arrival was given the job of stabilization and removal of the door and roof of vehicle #1 as Rescue Captain 102 was establishing 380 command. Both Rescues 102 and 78 worked on the extrication of the female patient from Vehicle #1 , as Medic 611 attended to the patient of Vehicle #2. 4 School Bus Accident
North Webster Tippecanoe Township Volunteer Fire Department - North Webster, IN
At approximately 3:30 on Wednesday afternoon, North Webster Fire was dispatched to the 7,000 block of N SR 13 in reference to a 3 school bus accident. When The first engine arrived on scene, Chief Likens immediately started calling for additional Ambulances. We determined right away that there were actually 4 buses involved but everyone had been evacuated prior to our arrival. Fire and EMS crews started to triage and prioritize patients by severity of injury. Nearly 50 children were taken to both Kosciusko Community Hospital as well as Goshen General Hospital. Vehicle Accident w/ Injuries
Charleroi Fire Department - Charleroi, PA
At approximately 19:00 hours, Station 33 and 47 were dispatched to a vehicle that had hydroplaned on Interstate 70 and had been struck by a tractor trailer and another vehicle. 33 responded and arrived to confirm the dispatch, as we found one vehicle partially pinned under the tractor trailer. 33 did patient care and stabilized the vehicles. Structure Fire with Rescue
Abingdon Fire Department - Abingdon, VA
At 23:18, Abingdon Fire was alerted to a structure fire in the 200 Block of Taylor Street. The primary dwelling was on fire in the kitchen. A male subject was located in the structure and had to be rescued. Fire was knocked down quickly. 1st Due Truck City of Lambertville Dwelling
West Amwell Fire Company - Lambertville, NJ
At approx. 0320 hrs. Quint 26 and Engine 26 were dispatched into the city of Lambertville for the building fire in the unit block of South Union Street.  Several minutes prior the City of Lambertville Fire Department had been dispatched for the automatic alarm system, the assignment was upgraded when units arrived on-scene to find smoke pushing from the kitchen.  Quint 26 arrived on-scene as the 1st due Truck Co. and was assigned to search the floors above the fire.  Engine 26 was staged just short of the fire scene.    WAFCO operated on-scene for just under 90...
