RCFD Assist Local Farmer with Freeing his Trapped Horse - Skurkay Lane - Rostraver Township
Rostraver Central Fire Department - Belle Vernon, PA
2034hrs: While enroute to an vehicle accident assisting Station 103 (Collinsburg), RCFD was alerted to assist a local farmer on Skurkay Lane with a trapped horse. The farmer was requesting manpower, chainsaws and lighting. After making sure Station 103 was secure, Command 105 rerouted Engine 105 and a second crew at the Fellsburg Station hooked up Gator 105 with Brush 105 and responded to the incident. At 00:59 hrs the Essex Junction Fire Department and Essex Rescue were requested to respond to the area of 47 Prospect Street in the village for a vehicle down an embankment. 8 Utility 61 arrived on scene to find a single vehicle down the embankment approximately 30-40 feet with an occupant still inside the vehicle. 8 Engine 5 with six personnel arrived on scene with Essex Rescue and Essex Police and made their way down the steep hill to the vehicle. At 17:45 Hours crews were dispatched to 1255 S Woodbourne Road at Mam'selle Hair Salon for a reported building fire, Chief-7 arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke showing from a one story strip center. Engine-77-1 arrived first in and dropped in and went in service side-A with a hand line. With help from Squrt-13's crews the fire was located in the rear utility room and quickly knocked down. Exposures on both sides suffered smoke damage. The Middletown FMO is conducting the investigation and there was no reported injuries.

Abingdon Fire Department - Abingdon, VA
At 12:44, Abingdon Fire and Washington County Life Saving Crew were dispatched to a three vehicle accident in the 16000 block of Porterfield Highway. Upon arrival, the three vehicles were still in the roadway with a lot of debris to be cleaned up. Injuries was minor and nobody was transported. Engine 201, Utility 207, and Command 209 responded along with WCLSC Units 51, 56 and 54 and the Virginia State Police. Units cleared at 13:43.

On Friday December 19th at 21:48 Raritan Fire Department was dispatched for a smoke condition inside the residence with a possible chimney fire.  Raritan PD arrived and reported smoke coming from the roof line of the house.  Chief 52 arrived and confirmed a chimney fire with extension into the living room and upstairs bedroom. At this time Chief 52 requested Somerset County Communications to dispatch a full 2nd alarm. Motor Vehicle Accident/Rescue Assignment- Route 70 & Pasadena Road.

At 16:17 Districts 18,19,29, & 67 were dispatched for a rescue assignment with a vehicle into the trees. 1800 arrived and confirmed the report and established CP18. 1841, 1861,1862,1892,1838,1900,2900,2982,medic 36,31,100 and 6749 responded. route 70 was closed in both directions during then incident.Vehicle was stabilized using struts and the roof of the vehicle was removed. Both occupants were then taken to 2 awaiting helicopters that landed on Route 70. Both occupants were then flown to a Trauma Center.

West Yadkin Firefighters were sent to assist Station 24 on a reported mobile home fire off Lone Hickory Rd in the late evening this date. Fire units arrived to find a mobile home well involved in fire along with a large area of brush and leaves on fire in the woods around the residence. Several other structures were being threatened. Serious Mid-Afternoon Crash on Starr Street
Phoenixville Fire Department - Phoenixville, PA
Around 3:30 PM the Fire Department and Trappe Ambulance were dispatched to Starr Street at Fifth Avenue for an automobile accident with entrapment.  Fire Department personnel arrived to find a commercial van with heavy impact into a large oak tree. The driver  sustained extensive trauma and required rapid extrication by fire crews.  The patient was transported by Trappe Ambulance to Phoenixville Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.  There were no other occupants in the vehicle.  Starr Street was closed between Manavon Street and Nutt Road for about a...

Past Assistant Chief Dale Sims Passes

Today, we lost a dedicated community volunteer. The Officers & Members of the Phoenixville Fire Department send condolences to the family of Dale Sims. Dale served the Phoenixville area as a volunteer Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician for 40 years. Dale followed in his father's footsteps and in 1975 at the age of 16 he joined the West End as a Junior Firefighter. During his years at West End Dale climbed through the ranks to serve as Lieutenant, Captain and ultimately an Assistant Chief of the Department. Rescue 1 Due On High Rise Job
Pittston Township Volunteer Fire Department - Pittston Twp., PA
Rescue 1 was requested to respond to a high rise fire this morning in Jenkins. Ladder 148 was first dispatched for an AFA and arrived with nothing showing. Shortly after the third floor flashed over. Initial crews were faced with heavy fire conditions in the 3rd and 4th floors. Rescue 1 arrived to find the bulk of the fire knocked down and was sent to the 2nd floor to complete a secondary search. The crew then headed up to the 4th floor to check for any hot spots. The rescue returned to service after two hours. Great job by the first due companies.
