Tractor fire sends units to Dorthy Patch
Lloydsville Volunteer Fire Dept and Relief Assoc. - Latrobe, PA
On September 14th units were activated for a tractor fire in the Dorthy neighborhood. Engine 114 and Chief 114 arrived on scene together and found that a lawn tractor was on fire and the homeowner had the majority of the fire knocked down with a garden hose. Crews from 114 used the homeowners garden hose and ensured the fire and brush around the tractor were out. Units were on scene for about 30 minutes. Also assisting 114 was Engine 113-2 (Latrobe #2).

Two-Vehicle MVA On Berkshire Road
Sandy Hook Vol. Fire and Rescue - Sandy Hook, CT
For the second time in less than 36 hours, firefighters, police and ambulance personnel were sent to a notoriously dangerous section of Berkshire Road for a motor vehicle accident. (See previous post concerning car vs tree MVA on September 13.)This time, Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Newtown Police were dispatched at 13:03 to the area of Berkshire Road near Sherman Street for a reported 2-car MVA with rollover and injuries. Chief Halstead was on the scene in five minutes, arriving at 13:08. Prince George's County Fire Investigators say a barbecue grill on the rear deck of a Bladensburg townhouse is the cause of a two-alarm fire that displaced several dozen residents.The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. Friday evening in the 5400 block of Doris Ct near 57th Avenue. First arriving units reported smoke and fire showing from the rear deck of a three-story townhouse with fire extending to the upper floors and to an adjacent townhouse.A second alarm was transmitted bringing over 80 additional firefighters to the scene to help battle the fire.It took fire crews about 40 ...

Working Barn Fire Assist to Alsace Manor

On September 13, 2014 at 22:36 company 34 was dispatched to the 300 block of Spies Church Road to assist Alsace Manor Fire Company with a working barn fire.Tanker 34 and its crew responded to the scene and assisted with exposure protection and fire suppression efforts,and later joined the other tankers in the water shuttle operation.Engine 34 and its crew assisted rescue 8 at the Wanshop Road dry hydrant with the fill site. On Saturday September 13th  Member Alan Smith hosted the Annual Abnormal Behavior Car Truck and Bike Benefit Show for Kyle Hamrick . On May 2, 2014 Kyle Hamrick was diagnosed with stage 4 Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.Company 42 attended the Car Show giving out Fire Prevention information as well as a Don't Text and Drive Pledge for the Community to sign. During the Event Truck 42 arrived and put on an Auto Extrication Demonstration.

Berkshire Road Car vs Tree
Sandy Hook Vol. Fire and Rescue - Sandy Hook, CT
Sandy Hook Fire & Rescue, Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps and the on-call medic were dispatched to the area of 119 Berkshire Road at 09:48 for a one vehicle accident with injuries. Police were also sent to the scene. Dispatch was being told that a vehicle had driven into a tree, and that extrication was needed.Chief Halstead was on the scene at 09:55 and confirmed the need for extrication. Tire Fire In The First Due
Pittston Township Volunteer Fire Department - Pittston Twp., PA
Engine 2, Engine 3, Rescue 1, and the chief responded to Sathers Dr. this morning for the reported smoke and fire in the area.  While units were responding comm-center advised of a possible chemical fire and to proceed with caution.  Engine 3 was first arriving to find heavy smoke and a pile of tires burning. The engine companies stretched an 1 3/4 line to extinguish the fire while the rescue crew along with engine 112 used hooks to start pulling the tires apart.  Companies operated for a little over an hour before returning to service.

Quick attck at a NE apartment fire

Just after 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, units from the Second Battalion responded to the 4000 block of Minnesota Ave NE for a report of an apartment building on fire.First on the scene Engine 27, who only had to respond two blocks from their firehouse reported heavy fire showing from the top floor of a three-story apartment building.The crew of Engine 27 quickly advanced their attack line to the top floor and with a very aggressive attack they were able extinguish the bulk of the fire.    No injures were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation

GVFD Responds to 2-Alarm Fire in Bladensburg
Greenbelt Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad Inc - Greenbelt, MD
Shortly before 5 p.m., Reserve Engine 35 responded on the second alarm for a townhouse fire in the 5400 block of Doris Court in Bladensburg. The fire was quickly spreading to adjacent townhomes. The crew from GVFD was tasked with protecting one of the exposure buildings, requiring them to perform hydraulic ventilation and smoke removal. On September 11th 2001 at 8:46 am the first tower was struck, at 9:02 am the second tower was hit. The burning towers stood for 56 and 102 minutes. It took 12 seconds to fall. 2819 dead from 115 different nations. 343 Firefighters 23 NYPD 37 Port Authority Officers. Vehicle Fire - Douglas Run Road, Elizabeth Twp.
Elizabeth Township Fire Department - Elizabeth, PA
At 20:17, Station 140 was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the bike trail by the Sutersville Bridge. ETPD was the first to arrive and reported a working pickup truck fire with explosions. Squad 3 and Engine 3 were the first fire units to arrive and quickly went to work with suppression efforts. Engine 7 arrived minutes later. The fire was brought under control within 10 minutes and command returned Rescue 4 to service. Northeast Nelson Fire and Rescue was called out this morning to the report of an active alarm at the 800 block of Taylorsville Rd. NENFD was cancelled before responding by the alarm Company. We verified with the key holder that this indeed was a false alarm.
