Prince George's Fire Department gets 18 new career firefighters

Eighteen fire department recruits graduated May 6 to become Prince George’s County's newest career firefighters. A graduation ceremony was held at Charles Flowers High School for the 18 new firefighters who had just completed eight classes at Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department’s training academy. The new firefighters are assigned to 11 stations throughout the county. They will provide additional staffing of both fire and emergency medical service units. Haz-Mat on East Lincoln Highway

At least nine people were checked for exposure to an unknown chemical Friday after a five-vehicle pile-up on busy Lincoln Highway in Middletown. The melee occurred shortly before 6 p.m. in front of the Philadelphia Soft Pretzel Factory when a Dodge van collided into the rear of a Hyundai, which was carrying pesticides and a dry chemical fire extinguisher in the trunk. DC Fire Chief Ellerbe seeks approval for staffing changes

STORY BY MYFOXDC WTTG The chairman of the D.C. City Council's Judiciary Committee says he has "grave concerns" over the staffing of the D.C. Fire Department. And Friday questioned its ability to provide quality emergency medical care in the city. 03:22 hours / 531 North 11th Street / Box 01-01 / D platoon    Engine 9 o/s with 3 story duplex with nothing visible from the outside. After investigation crews found smoke on the first floor, one line placed in service. The fire was knocked quickly, all searches were negative. Engine and Chief Go to Work at 50 Stonehaven in Rockland Manor
Sardis Volunteer Fire Company Station 78 - Murrysville, PA
Today at 1753 hours the alarm sounded for 50 Stonehaven Court in Company 234s first due for the reported house fire. First arriving police units reported smoke showing from the 2 story SFD , Chief 234 arrived and confirmed a working fire as he established Stonehaven command. Engines 234 and 78 made entry into the attic access where the bulk of the fire was , as Truck 233 assisted with hands and primary search of the structure. Structure Fire- Mutual Aid to 22 Prospect Street, Falls Village
Sharon Fire Department - Sharon, CT
Falls Village Fire and Ambulance were toned out for a structure fire. Arriving units found fire and called units from Cornwall, Lakeville and Canaan at 1:54 PM for Mutual aid. Falls Village Engine 7 tied into the hydrant to the right of the house and supplied attack lines and a portable deck gun. Cornwall 2-0 laid a 5 inch line over 1700 feet up Miner Street and then down Bebe Hill to the dry hydrant at the pond on Brewster Road. They fed a 5 inch distribution valve with a line to Falls Village's Engine 6, Canaan's Ladder, Sharon's tower, Canaan's Engine and Cornwall's Tank...

Motorcycle Accident
Catlett Volunteer Fire and Rescue - Catlett, VA
Units from Catlett were dispatched to a motorcycle accident on Old Calverton Road Thursday evening, May 16th.  Chief 7, Ambulance 7-1, Captain 7, Lt 7, Medic 1 and Engine 2 responded to find one patient with multiple injuries.  Patient was transported by Air Care to Mary Washington Hospital.

ATV accident with injuries
Friedens Vol. Fire Company - Friedens, PA
Dispatched at 1425 hrs, Station 603 along with Station 627, EMS 902, and 900 for an ATV accident with 2 injuries and 2 ATVs involved in front of 269 Coleman Station Rd. 603 Lieutenant responded direct to scene after dispatch. Utility 603-3 responded within minutes. 603 Lieutenant arrived on scene to find 1 ATV that rolled over with 1 injury off the roadway. Station 627 was then advised to cancel as well as Somerset EMS 900. Utlity arrived as well as firefighters in POVs to help ems with patient packaging, patient care, and traffic control. Abingdon Fire Assists WCLSC With Landing Zone
Abingdon Fire Department - Abingdon, VA
At 17:00, Abingdon Fire was dispatched to set up a landing zone for the MedFlight helicopter in the Stone Mountain Subdivision off Porterfield Highway. The patient had suffered a severe facial injury as result of a fall from a ladder. Washington County Life Saving Crew personnel felt that the injury was serious enough for the patient to be flown to Bristol Regional Medical Center. Engine 201, Brush 208 and Command 209 responded along with WCLSC units.

Woman Rolls Car While Avoiding Squirrel
Marshall Township Volunteer Fire / Rescue - Bedford, IN
On Wednesday, May 15th, 2013, a woman swerved to miss a squirrel in the road on Washboard Road.  The driver lost control of the vehicle, overcorrected, and struck a drainage culvert which caused the vehicle to roll at least twice.  The driver managed to get herself out of the vehicle despite the doors being jammed shut, and suffered minor injuries only.  The vehicle on the other hand, did not fare as well.

Woods Fire assist Station 604
Friedens Vol. Fire Company - Friedens, PA
Station 603 was dispatched at 1735 hrs for a woods fire to assist Station 604 behind the Stoney Brook Raceway off of N Club Rd. Utility 603-3 and Tanker 603-4  responded right after dispatch with 604 Chief arriving on scene. Units arrived on scene to find a woods fire approx an acre on fire with multiple garbage piles on fire also. Units worked the scene with hand lines, Indian tanks, and booster lines for about an hour. FAST Team responses
High Bridge Fire Department - High Bridge, NJ
At 13:36 hours 14 FAST was dispatched into Readington Township on Box 22-03 for a tractor on fire inside of a barn. Special Services (Lt. Brong) and Chief 14 (Labuta) responded but were cancelled upon arrival. On the return to the station at 13:53 the FAST team was alerted again for a structure fire at 19 Church St in Flemington.   The FAST time arrived to working fire with flames showing.  The FAST team deployed ladders to various sides of building for egress while Flemington, Raritan and Quakertown fire departments worked to extinguish the fire. Fire was br...

Boat Fire GOOD STOP!!
Ocean Beach Volunteer Fire Company - Lavallette, NJ
Toady at approximately 1400 hrs Station 27 was requested to respond to a working Boat Fire on Silver Beach Road.  The boat was under going some maintenance by a mechanic when the fire broke and and the mechanic did suffer some burns.  The victim was transported to Ocean Medical Center in Brick for further treatment by Toms River CSOs.  Chief Giordano was one of the first fire units to arrive and ordered Engine 2721 to pass up the structure and quickly stretch an 1 3/4 line to work the fire which was threatening to extend to the very close by residence.  Once the line was st...

MVA With Injuries
Ruscombmanor Volunteer Fire Company - FLEETWOOD, PA
On May 14th 2013 at 21:48 Company 34 along with rescue 8 and Blandon EMS were dispatched to an MVA with injuries at the intersection of Pricetown Road and Glenview Drive. Rescue and Engine 34 and crews were in route back to station from a training session at Mt. Penn Fire Company when the call was dispatched.  Crews arrived to find a two vehicle rear end type collision with one injury being tended to by EMS, crews lighted the scene, powered down the vehicles, controlled traffic and remained on scene to assist the tow company with roadway clean up. Structure fire on Hwy 1066

Northeast Nelson Fire and Rescue was called out to the report of a structure fire on Hwy 1066. This was a barn that was fully involved, we brought the fire under control quickly. Units remained on scene cooling hot spots and ensuring there was no danger to nearby structures.

Findlay Fire Responds to Mutual Aid Request from Shelbyville Fire
Findlay Fire Protection District - Findlay, IL
Findlay Fire personnel were paged out at 9:00 PM for mutual aid to Shelbyville Fire for a structure fire on the 100 block of N Morgan street.  Multiple buildings involved.  Fire departments from Tower Hill, Windsor, Pana, Sullivan, Lovington, Bethany, Stewardson, Strausburg, Cowden, Herrick, and Assumption were involved.  Findlay cleared the scene at 2:30 AM.
